Sharon Smith - ACTS Director

Sharon Smith is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who moved to Hilton Head from Connecticut in 1996, specifically to begin a counseling ministry at St. Luke’s. Her husband of thirty years, Bob Smith, is a licensed Professional Counselor and works with her in the counseling center, known as ACTS, (Agape Counseling & Training Services).

The Smiths have three grown sons and three grandchildren. Sharon enjoys music and has been a member of the St. Luke’s Choir and Praise Team. She also enjoys facilitating classes on building healthy relationships, and she leads a weekly support group for mothers of adolescents. In her spare time, Sharon enjoys reading novels and shopping with friends.

Nina Rodman - Minister of Music

Nina has been a Minister of Music (Director of Music/Organist) for more than 30 years, including 22 years in the Episcopal Church. She has founded and directed children, youth, adult and handbell choirs.

Her education includes a Bachelor of Music in organ performance and music education from DePauw University and a Master of Music in organ performance and music education from Boston University. Postgraduate work includes studies at the University of South Carolina and Westminster Choir College.

Nina is also a professional carillonneur* and is a member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America. Music in God’s Church has been her life-long calling.

Janice Ring - Director, St. Luke's Preschool

Janice Ring is married and has two adult children. She and her husband moved to this area in 2005 from Baltimore, MD for ministry purposes. Janice has a BA degree in Elementary Education from Arlington Bible College in Baltimore, MD. She has additional credits from Cedarville College (Cedarville, OH), Catonsville Community College (Baltimore, MD), and Tennessee Temple University (Chattanooga, TN). Janice was self-employed with a home-based Day Care where infants to five-year-olds were enrolled. She was a kindergarten teacher at Liberty Christian School for ten years. She also served as an administrative assistant for the Missions Pastor for three years and the Children’s Director for four years at Chapelgate Presbyterian Church. Janice feels called to ministry with children and loves sharing the love of Jesus Christ with them. 

Steve Chisholm - Youth Director

Steve Chisholm moved to the Hilton Head area in 2005. He’s been the director of Student Ministries at St. Luke’s since August of 2009. He has an extensive background in youth ministry with over 16 years of experience in full time youth ministry, working in Episcopal churches and with Young Life. 

Steve received his BA in Communications Studies from Virginia Tech and he has a Masters in Theology from Regent College in Vancouver British Colombia. Steve and his wife Veronica have a two year old daughter named Ayla. He enjoys surfing, reading, traveling, working out and spending time with his family and dog Bode in his free time.


Denise Gildner - Administrative Assistant

Denise has been the St. Luke’s Parish Secretary since November, 2001. She came to us from Michigan where she had been church secretary for 12 years in two Methodist churches. Denise and her husband Gary have been married over twenty years and currently live in Hilton Head Plantation with their dog, Abby. They are members of St. Andrew-by-the Sea United Methodist Church. Her hobbies include reading, shopping, and she’d like to learn crochet.

Jordan Sturm - Praise Team, Publications

Jordan has been a member of St. Luke's since 2006. He grew up in Troy, Ohio, then attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, before finally settling in Hilton Head, where he met his wife, Stephanie. They've produced three kids and have totally out-grown their house. Jordan started playing drums with the Praise Team in 2007, until he was called to lead the blended Sunday Music Team along with Nina Rodman, and also took over Publications duties, such as the Messenger, E-Zine, and Website. In his spare time.... did we mention he has three little kids?!?
