St. Luke’s is a large and diverse parish. Our members live all over Hilton Head Island and throughout Bluffton. We have identified ten zones or area that function like a neighborhood church, a sub-grouping of St. Luke’s parishioners who live close to one another. This allows for more manageable numbers of people for fellowship events and personal contact.
We strive to live according to the joyful, spirit-filled fellowship portrayed in Acts 2. We are organized as follows:
- Lay Pastors: Each area has two or more lay pastors. The lay pastors are a first point of contact for each of the St. Luke’s members living in their area. Lay pastors can be of great encouragement and support to members facing challenging seasons in life. The Lay Pastors also provide leadership for this program and direction to the other two parts described below.
- Area Parties: Two to three times a year area hosts arrange for parties for all those members and friends of St. Luke’s living in that neighborhood area. The parties usually have anywhere from 30-60 persons, teenagers and children! They always include food, fellowship and fun.
- Family Groups: These are neighborhood based small groups which meet 2-4 times per month to share life together. The focus is on fellowship, prayer and support, with some brief time for a discussion of the book of Acts and its relevance to our daily lives.

Acts 2:42-47
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
