Saint Luke's Anglican Church: Anglican Vestments
Anglican vestments are a distinct form of attire from other Christian denominations. Anglican vestments offer order, office, and role or function of various persons within the worship environment. The following vestments are used at Saint Luke's Anglican: White Overgarment: Surplice Signifies the righteousness of Christ; the person wearing the surplice has been washed and redeemed by the precious Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God Black, Red or Purple Garment: Cassock Worn underneath a white surplice by priests or bishops. Eucharistic Garment: Chasuble This is a type of poncho, placed over the head, worn by the priest during Eucharist services. Scarves: Stoles Stoles signify order and office: a priest's tole hangs vertically over each shoulder; a deacons stole hangs diagonally from the left shoulder and then is secured at the right side. Belt: Cinctures The Cincture is a belt for a Surplice or a Cassock. Stole Colors for the Liturgical Seasons/Church Calendar Year
