The Outreach of the Month is inspired by Jesus’ teaching to his disciples in Matthew 25:35 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Each year the Outreach Committee meets throughout the year and receives applications from local non-profits from outside of the church as well as from organizations within the church that support missions and those outside of our membership. During the fall the committee reviews the applications and chooses the recipients for the upcoming year. Priority is given to those organizations involving Saint Luke’s parishioners. In addition, the applicants are asked how their project will help further the mission of Saint Luke’s Anglican of “Knowing Christ and making Him Known.”
The Outreach at Saint Luke’s Anglican is blessed to have the financial support of The Church Mouse. Each month The Church Mouse matches gifts up to $3,000.00. Note: The Outreach actually has 13 non-profits. The Church Mouse matches 12 of our recipients.
This past year we had several changes with our committee. Kathie Phillips, a long-time member, resigned. Thank you for your many years of service and devotion, good and faithful servant! Jamie Evans, our long- standing chairperson stepped down from her position. Thankfully she remains on the committee. We, the committee, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication.
The committee would also like to express their deepest gratitude to all who contributed this past year. In 2025, we invite/encourage parishioners and groups within the church to volunteer, attend fund-raising events, and make donations. We also encourage the adoption of organizations not selected. Please consider how you can use your treasure, time, and talent for 2025!
Committee Members: Robin Berkeley, Jamie Evans, Ruth Hauck, The Ven. Dr. Kelly O’Lear, Roger Penny, Gillian Spooner, and Barbara Wolf.
