The Ven. Dr. Kelly O'Lear
Associate Rector
The Ven. Dr. Kelly O’Lear has a broad background in ministry service to the Lord. Prior to joining Saint Luke's Anglican, Kelly had been serving since 2021 as the Associate Dean of Formation and Affiliate Professor of Pastoral Care at Nashotah House, a theological seminary that exists to form persons for ministry in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. Prior to that, Kelly served for almost 30 years in the United States Army, as a Medic initially, and then primarily as Chaplain. His combat detail included tours in Afghanistan, Africa, and Iraq, as well as training deployments in 19 countries. He served as Chaplain for the following units: Special Operations Command Africa, 82nd Airborne Division, 173rd Airborne Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker), and Arlington National Cemetery. In addition, Kelly served for three years as a Professor of World Religions and the Director of Regional and Cultural Studies at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School from 2014 to 2017, plus as the affiliate faculty to the Joint Special Operations University, and he also taught at the United States Army Chaplain Center and School. Kelly has a D.Min. from Wesley Theological Seminary, a Th.M. from Duke University, an M.Div. from the University of Dubuque, a B.S. from Lee University, plus other military school training. Kelly was ordained to the priesthood in the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) in 2010 and is canonically resident in the ACNA Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy. Kelly loves spending time with his family and he and his wife Jennifer have two adult children, two children at home, one daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. In his spare time, Kelly enjoys sports and fitness.
